Skanska announces $39m investment in office project in Sweden

Swedish construction company Skanska has announced an investment of about $38.59m, (SEK350m) in a sustainable office project in Malmo, Sweden.

The new office building, named Oas, is located on Universitetsholmen in central Malmo.

It will have seven floors with about 7,500m2 of leasable area.

The company stated that each office tenant will have their own balcony as well as access to a common roof terrace.

The building will also feature rooms for public activities, bicycle hotels, showers and changing rooms on the entrance level.

It is designed to encourage healthy and sustainable lifestyle for people, companies, and nature.

Skanska noted that Oas is sustainability certified according to LEED version 4, level Platinum and is health certified according to WELL.

It aims to achieve a net-zero climate impact during its lifetime and targets to be certified according to NollCo2.

Construction work on the project is scheduled to be completed during the first quarter of 2024.

The new office project is part of the company’s development of Citadellsstaden on Universitetsholmen.

Previously, Skanska has developed the Aura and Aqua office projects along with housing and a preschool in the area.

Recently, the construction company announced SEK200m investment for the second phase of Port7, a mixed-use project in Prague, Czech Republic.

This phase includes two office buildings with a total leasable area of around 7,900m2.

One building will have five above ground floors while the other with six above ground floors along with two underground parking levels.

Skanska stated that the investment includes above ground levels of the two buildings.
