Cruden Building wins contract to deliver new affordable homes in Scotland

Calvay Housing Association has awarded a contract to Cruden Building (West), a part of the Cruden Group, to deliver a new ?7.9m affordable housing project in Glasgow, Scotland.

The project will include construction of 37 units of affordable housing at Garvel Crescent and 6 units will be developed on the Blyth Road site in the Barlanark area of Glasgow.

The new homes will include a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses along with cottage flats.
Dedicated landscaped parking courts will also be included in the housing project.

The design team for the development will include Clyde Design Partnership, and MAST Architects.

Work on the project site is scheduled to commence in March this year, with completion expected by Spring 2023.

Cruden Building managing director Allan Callaghan said: “We are excited to start work on this important development and to provide much needed affordable homes that deliver as much on quality, as they do on energy efficiency.

“At Cruden, we give back to the communities we build in, and on this project, we will provide a range of community benefits, including valuable apprenticeship opportunities and an additional ?5k in funding for Calvay Housing Association to support even more community housing initiatives in the Glasgow area.”

In 2020, Cruden Group’s subsidiary Hart Builders was appointed by the City of Edinburgh Council to build 150 new affordable homes at North West Edinburgh.

The council-led development’s residents will have access to high-quality green space and links to the walkway and shore.

Will Rudd Davidson; Hulley and Kirkwood and Hardies; and Smith Scott Mullan were appointed as designers for the project.
