Willmott Dixon appointed to upgrade Holy Trinity Academy in UK

Telford and Wrekin Council has awarded a contract to Willmott Dixon for a ?9.7m modular upgrade to Holy Trinity Academy in Telford, UK.

Work on the seven-month project will involve expansion and improvement to the amenities of the school.

The Holy Trinity Academy’s modular upgrade work includes the design and construction of a new three-storey teaching building.

The new teaching block will house science facilities, ten teaching rooms, four science labs, along with other multi-purpose spaces.

Additionally, Willmott Dixon will reate a single-storey extension to the east and west elevations of the existing dining hall.

This extension will create additional space for students for use during breaktime and assemblies.

The external works at the school will include renovation of the outdoor sports areas, which will support the events timetable and PE curriculum of the students.

Bond Bryan Architects has been appointed as the architect for the project, which is expected to be completed in September this year.

Willmott Dixon director Dan Doyle said: “Utilising modular construction for the science block will save three and a half months of programme and help ensure that it’s complete in time for the next student intake.

“This method also offers improved quality and will help minimise disruption to the students during the construction.

“As part of the project at the Holy Trinity Academy, we have committed to creating 15 work experience placements, and will recruit five apprenticeship roles across the project.”

Last month, the company secured a contract to deliver the new headquarters building for the Kirklees district in the UK.
